Teamwork

Lyndon B. Johnson said, "There are no problems we cannot solve together, and very few we can solve by ourselves."

We see this in Nehemiah, each person doing his or her part to build the wall around the city of Jerusalem: "From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall." (Nehemiah 4:16-17)

Our tendency is to tackle our problems on our own, but this is the least effective strategy. We need to make a habit of enlisting others to help us face our challenges.

Nehemiah made sure that his workers had someone watching their backs; we need the same!

This is so true. It is so much easier to handle problems when I am not alone. But I ask myself, why is it so hard to ask for help when I need it? Is it my own pride, needing to appear strong and together? Is it because of being refused help in the past, told to tough it out, I can do it if I just try harder? Is it because I am so used to being the helper, that no one thinks I ever need help? Good food for thought, Pastor.

Ruthie on the money. I believe no one thinks I need help. Probably because I never ask. And, I always seem in control. I guess that's the facad (did I spell that right), Pastor was talking about. Sometimes I feel if I want to get something done right, I better do it myself. Never giving others a chance. I feel if I don't do it, it won't be done right. I'll fix it, I'll do it, boy I got problems.
